What changed for NSW building owners?
AS 1851-2012 sets the routine servicing requirements for fire protection systems and equipment. Since 13 February 2026, NSW building owners must ensure applicable essential fire safety measures are maintained in accordance with the Standard, or the maintenance requirements of an approved performance solution.
AS 1851 routine servicing does not replace the Annual Fire Safety Statement process. AFSS assessment and submission obligations continue separately where they apply.
